The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in rock mechanics represents a transformative shift in addressing complex geotechnical challenges. As the demand for more effective, accurate, and sustainable methods in rock engineering grows, AI offers distinct possibilities to enhance the understanding and control of rock behavior, stability, and resource optimization. This unique edition will explore the application of AI in various facets of rock mechanics, especially emphasizing the promise of machine learning, deep learning, and other data-oriented strategies to address major challenges in the field.

Submissions are welcomed that explore the application of AI methods in essential sectors like rock mass classification, predicting material behavior, stability evaluation, and risk assessment within geotechnical engineering. Additionally, this issue will include case studies illustrating the real-world application of AI-driven solutions in rock engineering projects, showcasing both achievements and obstacles.
